Return to Prodigal Bikes
This month saw a welcomed return to work with AJ at Prodigal Bikes. We really enjoy our sessions there, learning how to repair and refurbish bikes that get handed over to refugees either in the UK or Africa.
Our practice has paid off.
The Hub football team is on the up!! Passing, tackling and shooting has improved, fitness has improved, positional play and team spirit too!
Shout out…
Special shout out to Jake, Adam, Steve and Lee from AJM Electrical Services who are taking part in a 72 hole sponsored gold event on 28th June to raise money for the Hub. Plus massive thanks to Lucy Mead for organising the fundraiser.
Champions!
Massive congratulations to Yeovil Town FC for being champions of National League South and winning 3-1 on Saturday. Also huge thanks to YTFC for inviting a group of Hub trainees to attend the final home game of the season and to be able to witness a fabulous victory and all the celebrations!
Eyes down.
Once again the Hub was packed for another bingo night. Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone who donated prizes. It was a fun and enjoyable evening. Big thanks to Anne for being the caller and organising the raffle.
Nova Sports
Today a group of our trainees joined Ryan from Nova Sports & Coaching at Mudford Recreational Ground.
An update on Andy’s challenge
Friend of the Hub Andy Jones is riding 248km to Rennesse in Holland in two days in May of this year.
You cant dampen our spirits!
We may be closed but we wanted to share the photos from this months Thursday group that went to Eastfields Of Bowers Hill. Like February's group, rain did not dampen their spirits or enthusiasm.
Back to nature.
March saw the Hub visiting Chrissie again at the Carymoor Environmental Trust.
~Important Notice~
Our Hub Cafe and Scrapstore will be closing for Easter, at 12 Noon on Thursday 28th March, with last food and drink being served at 11.30am. We will then re-open as normal on Tuesday 2nd April at 9.30am.
VIPs for the day
A group of Hub trainees were treated like VIPs today as they were given a stadium tour of Yeovil Town FC . It was extremely informative and fun with our trainees getting to see everything that goes on.
Leonardo and Be a Saint Day.
Yesterday was a very busy day at the Hub as our friends from Leonardo came to volunteer at the Hub as part of their "Be A Saint Day".
Come on the All Stars…
We had fun in the sun at Strode College yesterday with our Hub All Stars enjoying 5 games in the Somerset FA Disability Counts League.
New Session Alert!
Another new session at the Hub this month has been our twice a week Football practice sessions helping our All Stars team get ready for Sunday's matches in the Somerset Football Association Disability Counts League at Strode College.
Our woodwork sessions…
As well as attending the Men's Shed we run a couple of woodwork sessions during the week at the Hub. Within those sessions our trainees split into teams and work with the Work Coach on ideas they would like to make, which will then involve sourcing the materials, designing, making and decorating.
Fun in the rain
A big congratulations has to go to our February group that attended Eastfields Of Bowers Hill , it has rained most of the sessions but this has not stopped our trainees from getting on with their jobs and enjoyed the riding.
Jigsaw puzzles.
On a Monday morning we take teams of 4 trainees at a time to our friends at Yeovil Men's Shed and Community Workshop to work on projects there.
Leonardo Work Experience
We thought we would finish off the week with photos of Karen and Robin. Karen completed the Leonardo work experience during November and December, and Robin has been experiencing it since February.
